This wearable gadget wants to help improve your vertical jump. It’s called the Vert Jump Monitor.
The small, lightweight jump tracker can be either worn inside clothing or clipped on to your belt. It monitors movement in every direction with a precision 3-axis accelerometer and gyroscope.
According to its makers, Vert calculates jump height with an accuracy rate of around 95-percent. As well as sending performance data to the companion smartphone app for post session review, there’s also a real-time display to help improve your vertical jump on the fly, as it allows you to see the stats for your last jump thus providing motivation for doing better on your next attempt.
The performance stats offered by Vert include: maximum jump height, minimum jump height, total jump count, game/training session duration. There’s also a leaderboard in the Vertcoach app so you can see how you compare to other users.
The Vert Jump tracker is currently being used by the women’s U.S volleyball team, plus a growing number of basketball teams are also getting involved. You don’t need to be into volleyball or basketball to benefit from the jump tracker; other sports such as gymnastics, cheerleading, parkour, and tons more involve a lot of vertical jumps.. I almost forgot to mention the most obvious sport of all. The high jump.
Compatibility
The Vert jump monitor uses Bluetooth 4.0 to connect wirelessly to your smartphone or tablet is compatible with iOS (iPhone 4S and higher). No Android support, unfortunately.
