The world’s most advanced sailing watch, the Garmin Quatix 5 is landing in June 2017.
The Quatix 5 isn’t just a sailing watch. It’s also a GPS watch, smart watch, fitness watch, heart rate watch, golfing watch, cycling watch, swimming watch, fishing watch, and a watch that has more functions than the friggin Star Ship Enterprise.
Garmin’s marine mega wearable brings an improved feature set over its predeccessor the Quatix 3. Most notably a built-in heart rate monitor and a more stylish look with a thinner bezel. Other new additions include Autopilot Control and the ability to mark MFD waypoints.
On the water, the watch offers features such as pre-loaded profiles for sailing, boating and fishing. If you’re into yacht racing the Quatix 5 brings a Virtual Starting Line, Countdown Timer, Tack Assist, Point Navigation, Barometer, Weather and Tide Tables. There’s also an Anchor Alarm so you don’t get caught out by unexpected drift while catching some zzz’s after polishing off a bottle of Rum.
The Quatix 5 compatible with Garmin marine equipment for data streaming. There are also modes for paddleboarding, rowing, swimming, and the watch has a 10 ATM (100 meters) water-resistant rating.
On dry land it can track your activities and fitness metrics, such as steps, calories, distance, sleep, floors climbed, heart rate, Vo2 Max, recovery time, and more. Tons of advanced metrics for running and cycling are on board, as well as modes for golf, hiking, climbing, skiing and snowboarding.
The super sailing watch comes with smart features such as music control, phone finder, smart notifications (calls, text, email, calendar, app alerts) and compatibility with Garmin Connect IQ for customization, watch faces, apps and widgets. All your data is displayed on a 240 x 240 pixels, sunlight-visible, transflective, color screen.
The Garmin Quatix 5 will be available to buy from 2017 June with two variations to choose from: The Wi-Fi enabled Quantix 5 Sapphire, which comes with a Sapphire crystal lens and stainless steel strap for $849.99 USD, and the regular Quatix 5, which has a silicone QuickFit strap for $599.99.Watch The Quatix 5 Video
