These high-tech sunglasses won’t bust your bank..
Recently, the Snapchat Spectacles have been the most talked about eyewear, plus smart glasses such as the Epson Moverio BT-300 have been catching headlines.
Dutch startup Mariener are sticking to the essentials with their new sunglasses. Instead of kitting them out with a camera or augmented reality display, Mariener are focusing the technology on the lenses. Mariener was founded in 2012 and strives to deliver high-quality eyewear for outdoor sports such as snowboarding and motocross for a very competitive price.
Their latest mission is to bring cutting-edge Matte Reflective Lens technology to their best-selling Melange sunglasses. The sunglasses are styled with the timeless Wayfarer look and use flexible Memory Frame technology and a combination of materials that keep them lightweight, yet durable.
The real magic is in the Matte Reflective lenses which make them matte reflective from the outside, but completely clear from the inside. Mariener claim to be the first eyewear makers to offer this technology with such a high optical clarity at price that won’t bust your bank.
The Matte Reflective Melange sunglasses have been treated with Hydro Lens tech, making them grease, dirt and water-resistant. They’re also scratch-resistant and offer full UV400 protection.
The Kickstarter super early bird price of 19 Euros is still available (at the time of writing). Other brands offering sunglasses in this price range would generally use poly carbonate injection molded frames that become brittle in the sun and die after a few years. The Mariener Melange are built to last.
With a Kickstarter pledge you can choose from a range of colors and even choose to design your own frame with Mariener’s product configurator. The estimated shipping date for Kickstarter backers ordering the high-tech sunglasses is June 2017.
