Skagen’s connected hybrid smartwatch is now on sale starting $195 USD or £185 in the UK from Skagen.com
Danish accessory brand, Skagen are owned by Fossil who have been extremely busy with wearable technology in 2016. Fossil have already released several hybrid smartwatches, a.k.a. smart analog watches with their own Fossil Q brand, and many others co-branded with designer labels are set to follow shortly.
Fossil’s wearables are backed by Intel on the tech side, plus they own Misfit who are one of the pioneers of fitness tracking wearables and make some of the best devices. In a nutshell, Fossil are well set up to become the world’s leaders in wearable tech.
Skagen Hagen Connected
This trendy smart analog number caters for the minimalist appetite. It has a 42mm stainless steel case, and it’s pretty slender with a thickness of 11mm. There’s also a titanium version which comes at a slightly higher price.
There are four versions to choose from, with different colored cases, dials, accents, and different styled indexes. The straps are 20mm and come in steel-mesh, leather, nylon, and silicone. The straps are interchangeable and have a quick-release system.
The Skagen Hagen brings the essential activity tracking features: steps, distance, calories, goals, and sleep quality. It also has a vibrating alarm.
The Hagen Connected has you covered with vibration alerts for emails and text notifications, plus you can customize which notifications get through with the Skagen app.
Additional features onboard include automatic time zone updates and the Skagen Link feature which allows to control your smartphone’s camera, music player, and find your phone by pressing a button on the side of the watch.
The watch is equipped with Bluetooth LE and Wi-Fi connectivity. The Skagen app is compatible with iOS 8.0 + and Android 4.4 +.
It doesn’t have the best battery life in the smart analog watch world; it lasts from 4 to 6 months with no charging required – still pretty good.
Last but not least, the Skagen Hagen Connected has a 3 ATM water-resistant rating – so it will survive a shower but I wouldn’t take mine swimming.
