The next generation of Fossil Q hybrid smartwatches are now available. The latest additions join the Fossil Q Grant and Q Pilot in the company’s growing collection of designer wearables.
Pre-orders for the new Fossils opened last month, but now you grab one from the online store.
A hybrid smartwatch, a.k.a. smart analog watch offers the best of both timekeeping realms, i.e,. they connect to your smartphone via bluetooth and come with fitness tracking and sometimes smart notifications and music control.
They are hard to tell apart from stylish classic watches in terms of looks, and are less bulky than their full-on smartwatch cousins. The thing that makes a hybrid smartwatch a more worthy investment to many people than a smartwatch is their battery life which usually lasts anywhere from 6 months to 2 years.
The latest Fossil Q release consists of four watches; two women’s and two men’s.
Fossil Q Gazer and Q Tailor for Her
The Q Gazer has a 41mm case and comes in either silver or rose gold colors with a 20mm matching chain link or grey leather strap.
The Q Tailor has a 40mm case and comes in either gold or rose gold colors with an 18mm brown or navy leather strap.
Fossil Q Crewmaster and Q Nate for Him
The Q Nate has a 50mm case and comes in either black, black with red accents, or silver colors with a 24mm matching chain link or brown leather strap.
The Q Crewmaster has a 46mm case and comes in silver with orange and blue bezel and accents, black and blue with orange and yellow accents, and the far easier to describe silver color. The strap is 22mm and comes in black or blue silicone or matching stainless steel chain link.
The Fossil Q hybrids don’t have touchscreen displays like the Fossil Q Founder Android Wear watch. Instead they have an analog display with good old-fashioned hands to tell the time, plus an activity dial for your stats.
All the new Fossil Q smart analog watches offer vibrating alarms that will let you know when an incoming call or text arrives.
They offer the essential activity tracking features: steps taken, distance walked, calorie output, and sleep quality.
Fossil’s Q-Link Smart Button is also on board which means you can control your smartphone’s camera and music player from the watch and use it to find your phone if you misplace it.
The watches connect wirelessly to your smartphone using Bluetooth and are compatible with iOS 8.2 + and Android 4.4 +. They offer a battery life of up to 6 months – no charging required.
