HP and Acer’s Windows Mixed Reality Headsets are now on sale to any developer who clicks the purchase button and agrees to the terms and conditions.
You’ll also need a Windows 10 computer with the Developer Mode switched on and the Creators Update installed. Your computer will need at least 16GB of RAM and NVIDIA GTX 980/1060 / AMD Radeon RX 480 (8GB) equivalent or greater GPU.
HP Windows Mixed Reality headset..
The tech specs of the mixed reality headsets are almost identical, except the HP has a removable cable and a more comfortable headband with an adjustment knob – hence the $30 price difference.
Both headsets offer twin 1440 x 1440 LCD displays, 95 degree field of view, 90 HZ refresh rate, and HDMI and USB 3.0 connectivity.
Acer Windows Mixed Reality headset..
Windows Mixed Reality caters for various inputs, such as motion controllers, gamepads, mice, keyboards and gaze and voice input. At the moment, it looks like no such peripherals are bundled with the HP and Acer headsets, instead they will be bundled with the Consumer Editions in Fall 2018 for an extra $100.
What is mixed reality? Somewhere between augmented reality and virtual reality. There’s been a lot of hype about mixed reality lately and in the near future it’s gonna be everywhere.
