Designer smart analog watches, also known as hybrid smartwatches are arriving on the scene in numbers to disrupt whatever progress Android Wear smartwatches and the likes are making. And the Apple Watch, well that just seems to be running its own race.
The Tommy Hilfiger TH 24/7 watch is the latest smart analog name in the headlines. Using a platform backed by a partnership with tech giants HP and Swiss watch makers Movado, the TH 24/7 will join other designer brands such as Hugo Boss, Ferrari, Juicy Couture, and Coach as they start hitting stores over the next month.
Tommy Hilfiger’s new connected watch has a 46mm stainless steel case and comes with a 22mm brown leather strap. It offers step tracking, and smartphone notifications which are displayed on a small OLED screen built into the analog display which is protected by mineral crystal. There’s also a vibrating alarm.
The TH 24/7 and the other incoming brands have a water-resistance rating of 5 ATM, and are compatible with iOS 8.0 + and Android 4.4 +.
The Tommy Hilfiger smartwatch will be available from October 27th according to Allure. We’re not sure exactly what the price will be, but Androidheadlines reckon the range of designer watches will have price tags from $195 to $325 USD – these prices include the other designer brands as well – not just Tommy Hilfiger. A German fashion accessories website has already listed the TH 24/7 with a price of 279 Euros.
Back in March, HP and Movado made their ambitions known to release 25 different watches in 2016 using their platform. All the models are likely to brandish designer logos. Movado have already released their own HP-powered watch called the Movado Bold Motion. The Swiss watch makers also have their fingers in the Horological pie, as they offer a line of Motion smart analog watches powered by MMT’s MotionX.
As Movado’s MotionX-powered watches range from $995 to $2,495, it looks like their co-branded HP-powered releases will be quite a bit cheaper.
