The Pimax 8K VR system has become the most ever funded VR project on Kickstarter raising $3,494,867 USD with 49 hours still to go, surpassing the Oculus Rift which raised $2,437,429 back in 2012.

It’s the world’s first 8K VR headset and supports the mainstream content currently available in the market, including Steam VR. Pimax is compatible with over 1,700 VR titles and all Steam accessories such as controllers, joysticks, etc.

The 8K system’s features and specs include a 200-degree field of view, 2x 3840 x 2160 resolution with a total of 16.6 million pixels, 70-90 Hz refresh rate (per eye), 15ms latency, room scale positional tracking and a built-in microphone.

PimaxVR are also offering a 5K system. The Kickstarter prices for the 8K VR start at $499 USD and $399 for the 5K. The estimated shipping date for Kickstarter backers is January 2018.

The KS campaign only has a few days left, so if you’re looking to back PimaxVR and be one of the first 8K VR owners then head over to Kickstarter before it ends.
