We are already seeing wearable technology firms teaming up with jewelry and fashion designers to make sure that wearables bring bling along with performance. One of the resulting genres is smart jewelry which is forecasted to become a lucrative industry.

One of the latest partnerships is between the Australian jewelry makers Swarovski and wearable tech company Misift, the result is the Swarovski Shine collection.

Misfit was only founded in October 2011, the company was actually founded on the same day that the founder of Apple, Steve Jobs died. In the few years that Misfit has been running, it has already had partnerships with the likes of Coca Cola and Victoria’s Secret.

The Swarovski Misfit partnership was announced in Las Vegas at CES 2015. The products they are set to produce are the Piofiora wristband and Cardoon wristband, the Slake bracelet in black or grey, and the Serora pendant, all with the features of the original Misfit Shine, except with a clear crystal face.

Another item in the collection features an upgraded Misfit Shine activity tracker embellished with a violet Swarovski crystal. Underneath the crystal is a solar panel to keep the tracker charged up beyond its existing 6 month battery life. Solar powered watches have been around forever, but solar-powered smart jewelry? This has to be the first!

The Misfit Shine is one of the most popular fitness trackers. It measures steps, distance, calories burned and is a decent sleep tracker. It connects via Bluetooth LE to Android, iOS and Windows Phone 8.1. It has an LED display, weighs just 9.4 grams and is safe to wear while swimming.

The attractive smart jewelry accessory delivers all the activity tracking features of the Misfit Shine with a touch of Swarovski style!
