Shammane, a new fashion orientated smartwatch designed for women has begun life on the crowdfunding website indiegogo. Hailing out of Paris, Shammane was a recent finalist at the Paris Fashion Tech Week.

Just five days into the crowdfunding campaign and Shammane has reached 72 percent of its funding goal, with 36 days left to run there’s no doubt the campaign will be successful, echoing the likes of BLOCKS, the modular smartwatch which recently tripled its Kickstarter goal a few days after going live.

Paris is one of the world’s fashion capitals, so you would expect the Shammane smartwatch to bear some of that Parisian style – naturally. The makers of Shammane have emphasized that style is paramount and technology stands next in line, although it doesn’t lack in functionality.

With a mirror-polished rose gold-plated aluminium case and a diameter of 39mm it’s the second smallest circular smartwatch so far, just 0.5 more than the Pebble Time Round, also designed for women, which measures 38.5mm. Shammane has a 1.22″ LCD Touchscreen display with a resolution of 240 x 240 px. It does appear to take after the Moto 360 2 in the “Flat Tire” department.

The Shammane smartwatch can be changed to match your outfit with a selection of watch bespoke watch-faces and quick-release straps which come in six different colors. Plans for the future include the release of new strap collections based on trending colors and fabrics, and no doubt more watch faces will become available.

Shammane connects its companion app for iOS 7 + and Android 4.3 + using Bluetooth 4.0 LE. It displays notifications for incoming calls, texts, calendar reminders and instant messages from third-party apps like Facebook Messenger. You will also be able to keep tabs on your steps thanks to an onboard pedometer and set daily goals with the included fitness app.

Shammane claim their stylish new smartwatch will give you a battery life of up to 3 days between charges with average usage. It has a water-resistance rating of IP67, which technically means it could survive a dunking at 1 meter for about 30 minutes – if you feel the need.. Despite the IP67 rating, Shammane recommend you remove the smartwatch before showering – sensible..
