The Samsung Gear Fit2 is now official.. Click here for the official specs and features.

It’s been just over two years since Samsung released their first fitness focused wearable, the Gear Fit. In the last few weeks rumors have floating around, along with some leaked images of the a new Samsung Gear Fit 2.

The latest images (above) emerged on twitter courtesy of @evleaks. The design of the new smartband hasn’t changed much, and has maintained its fitness tracker/smartwatch hybrid vibe with a curved Super AMOLED touchscreen like the original Gear Fit.

According to several sources, the Samsung Gear Fit is already fully developed and we might see a release date as early as next month (June).

As far as functionality goes, it looks like Samsung aren’t leaving much to be desired. The official specs still haven’t emerged, but it looks like the Gear Fit 2 will join a select few fitness trackers with a built-in GPS. Also included is a new bio processor capable of advanced biometric analysis, such as galvanic skin response (GSR), skin temperature, electrocardiogram (ECG) and Photoplethysmography (PPG) which is used to estimate the skin blood flow using infrared light and detect blood volume changes.

Furthermore, the bio processor might monitor stress levels, skeletal muscle mass and body fat. The optical heart rate monitor on the original Gear Fit isn’t exactly known for being the most accurate, and the battery life isn’t the greatest. With the new all-in-on bio processor onboard, the new model is likely to last longer between charges and deliver more accurate heart rate data.

If all the rumors about the rich feature set are true, upon its release, the Samsung Gear Fit 2 will rival the Microsoft Band 2 as the most advanced fitness tracker money can buy – although we have no idea how much it will cost, yet.
